Daimler Truck issues their own set of requirements for service fill engine oils used in their trucks. These are compiled together into a single document which is periodically updated, either when testing requirements are changed or new specifications are added.

Each individual specification is known by its DTFR Sheet Number. The DTFR sheet numbers are all in a sequence beginning with 15 to denote “engine oil,” followed by either a B to denote “No DPF” or a C to denote a DPF engine and then ending with a three digit suffix to differentiate the specification.

The specifications detail allowable viscosity grades, the ACEA or API level performance that must also be met plus additional physical, chemical and engine testing that must be conducted. This includes engine tests that have been developed by Daimler Truck.

All applications for approvals against Daimler Truck specifications are made through the Daimler Truck online Fluid Release System (FRS). Daimler Truck publishes lists of approved lubricants on the Mercedes-Benz Trucks website.
